PART TIME CEMETERY WORKERS
Under the supervision of the Department of Public Works, persons needed to reset approximately 750 headstones at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team environment, be able to lift 50 pounds or more and work outdoors in various weather conditions. This position is extremely labor intensive and requires great care in handling the headstones. The hours will be approximately 8AM-3PM, Monday – Friday, May-November, or until the project is complete. The pay is $12 per completed headstone.

PART-TIME SEASONAL GROUNDS MAINTENANCE
Under the supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Foreman or a higher classified employee, performs duties necessary in equipment operation and maintenance of all Township Parks, Athletic Fields, Bike Paths, Nature Areas, Fort Gratiot PetSafe Canine Commons (dog park,) Pointe Community Center, Water Tower Property, Fort Gratiot Municipal Center and other Township properties as required. Duties include: cut and trim all grass, trim trees and bushes on all Township properties, prepare athletic fields for play, pick-up and disposal of trash, dog waste, etc., maintain equipment, fuel, lubricate and clean all parks maintenance equipment, as directed and required.

The hours will vary due to weather, baseball tournaments and community events, including mandatory evenings and weekends, approximately April – November. The wage is $11.37 per hour.

SEASONAL ASSESSING
Under the supervision of the Assistant Assessor, the Assessor and/or the Supervisor, this seasonal position will assist the Assessing Department with on-site property data collection, entailing field work such as measuring of all buildings/structures on every property inspected, and taking pictures of residential, commercial and vacant properties; also expected to perform various clerical and/or office duties as necessary.

Possession of a High School diploma or the equivalent. Possession of a valid Michigan Vehicle Operators license. Possess and maintain current Michigan Auto Insurance. Have a pleasant and professional manner. Have an intermediate knowledge of the use of digital cameras and measuring devices. Have the ability to perform on site data collection and basic office equipment.

The hours will vary due to weather and the needs of the office, will generally not exceed an average of 28 hours per week, and will be any day Monday – Friday between the hours of 8AM-4:30PM at a rate of $10.00 per hour.

 

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Prior to starting employment, the candidate must complete a satisfactory background check.  The background check is understood to encompass all forms of pre-employment screening, including but not limited to: drug screen, physical, criminal background, driving record, sex offender registry, education, training and licensing verification, employment history, credit check, and professional and personal references. Must possess a valid State of Michigan operator license and maintain this license throughout employment in this position.
